Alright, here we are going through another week of this adventure. If we were to give you any advice out of the gate, it would be to simply relax! Because here’s some good news: The majority of woman notice that they are getting less and less morning sickness as they reach this level of the pregnancy. So that’s one thing you don’t have to think about anymore. Now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about what else you can expect during the 12 weeks pregnant stage.
So, how is your body changing at 12 Weeks Pregnant?
As more time passes, your uterus should be growing more and more. In fact, if you were to be examined by your healthcare provider, he would be able to sense it in the lower area of your belly. We’re not exactly at the point where you would be in need of maternity clothes just yet, but you might just be at the point where you start feeling that your clothes aren’t fitting as well as they used to.
But you should know that the case differs from one woman to another. If this isn’t your first pregnancy, you might want to get those maternity clothes sooner than a first timer.
Another thing worth mentioning is the change that might be happening to your skin. Pregnant women start noticing darkening of areolas during this period. You may have also witnessed the appearance of dark spots on your face and neck, something known as chloasma or more commonly as the mask of pregnancy. Again, this isn’t anything to worry about. These dark patches should typically go away or become lighter after delivery.

How exactly is your baby changing?
At this point, the fetus begins to get closer to a more recognizable ordinary look of a newborn baby. The eyes start to move closer towards each other,and the ears get more and more close to the final spot they normally occupy on the surface of the head. And here’s a cool fact, the intestines of the baby would have been growing at such a rapid rate that they would extend into the umbilical cord. Don’t freak out, they will shortly commence to go back into the abdomen, you know, where they should be.
Beyond that, the kidneys should now be able to secrete urine. While on the other hand, the nervous system is still unfinished and developing. But that doesn’t mean, that the baby at this staged lacks all abilities to move. In the matter of fact, he or she should be able to perform some relatively complicated reflexes such as sucking.
How big is your baby right now exactly?
At the mark of the twelfth week, the baby would reach the length of 3.15 inches (8 centimeters) and be around the weight of 1 ounce (about 28 grams). Still has a way to go, but we’ve already been through so much.
A plan for a healthy twelve weeks pregnant
We are at a point of the pregnancy where you should be having some serious thoughts about your diet. You’re obviously eating for two, so you need to make sure, that you are both getting all you require from the food you’re taking in. So it doesn’t mean that you should eat more, that’s a bad plan. What it means is that you should eat right. The weight you gain should be at a steady frequency.
Excess weight can be avoided, here’s how:
- You should avoid having junk/fast food, obviously
- Try to fight away the temptation of midnight snacks.
- Limit as much as possible eating anything that involves fat and sweets

Some tips for a better pregnancy
Kegel exercises are excellent help for women throughout the pregnancy and even before it and after it’s done. They’re a set of activities that are aimed at strengthening the vaginal muscles. Those who practice them find great ease with delivery, which is always a welcomed plus.
Tips for your partner
As your partner’s body morphs over time, new difficulties will arise in performing the most ordinary tasks. A gesture as simple as massaging the hands, feet and back after an overwhelming day can go a long way. Maybe even throw in her favorite lotion, for example, to show how much you care.
